Anna Sorokin, popularly known as Anna Delvey, is a con artist and fraudster who posed as a wealthy heiress to access the upper-class New York social scene. Despite her popularity, Anna Delvey has concealed her physical features, including her height.
Despite minimal information on her height, many assumed that Anna Delvey stood at 5 feet 4 inches when looking at her photos on social media, especially after her recent appearance on Dancing with Stars.
Moreover, Delvey appeared on the stage with her partner, Ezra Sosa, who is 5 feet 6 inches tall. The dancer looked equally tall to him, reaching up to his forehead and wearing two-inch heels for her debut performance.
Apart from her height, many grew curious about the jeweled ankle monitor on the dancer, which opened up cases from her past when the NYPD arrested Delvey following a sting operation on fraud and theft charges.
Her case was featured in several series, including the Netflix miniseries Inventing Anna, The Sinfluencer, and Anna Sorokin: The True Story of Million Dollar Fraudstar. Such a discovery had made her DWS debut quite controversial, putting pressure on the show’s team.
Likewise, following her recent performance, many have criticized the show for housing a criminal, with comments such as, “This is so tacky and screams desperation. SURELY, there is another star that could’ve been on this season instead of her…“
Anna Delvey reached the heights of criminal activity in 2017 as she scammed countless people, hotels, and banks!
Born and raised in Domodedova, a Russian town outside of Moscow, Delvey had a rough childhood in a middle-class family. Her father was a truck driver, while her mother ran a local convenience store.
In 2007, her family left Russia and moved to Germany, where the dancer completed most of her high school education. She then moved to London and Paris and finally settled in New York City, where she interned for the French magazine.
Taking advantage of her position, Delvey created fake financial statements to prove she had a multi-million-euro trust fund and conducted illegal wire transfers across several bank accounts.
Likewise, she used the documents and fraud checks to trick financial institutions and banks into paying vast sums of cash and loans without collateral. Delvey used to fund her lavish lifestyle in multiple upscale hotels and buildings while growing her network in the wealthy society.
According to police reports, Delvey deceived significant companies, hotels, and individuals for more than $275k over four years. During that time, she created the idea of the Anna Delvey Foundation, a private club dedicated to art to collect a high number of donors.
After her arrest, Delvey was found guilty of eight charges in the State Supreme Court in Manhattan, including grand larceny charges. The court sentenced her to four to twelve years in state prison and a fine of $24k.
However, she was released from prison in 2021, leading to immediate custody by US immigration for overstaying her visa. They made her wear an ankle monitor to track her locations as the legal battle hadn’t concluded.
