This year’s Cannes Film Festival is under fire after a female security guard got into four altercations with celebrities, including Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland and Korean actress Yoona.

The video is going viral on social media, and furious fans are bashing the guard for her supposedly discriminatory actions.

Moreover, many are asking Cannes to get the female security guard fired for her disrespectful behavior.

That said, some fans stepped in, pointing out that she was just doing her job and protecting them.

Whether it was a protocol or a straight-out act of disrespect, Cannes has yet to comment on it!

Like any Hollywood event, this year’s Cannes Film Festival also had its share of drama and scandals, as the red carpet interaction of a security guard with celebrities went viral on social media.

On May 21, 2024, Kelly Rowland, a former member of Destiny’s Child, scolded a security guard while ascending the red steps.

As per the clip, the female security guard seemingly put her arms behind the singer’s back to guide her. Then, Kelly turned to her and admonished the woman while holding up her left pointer finger.

Kelly responded to the incident in an interview with Associative Press. She said, “There were other women who attended that carpet who did not quite look like me, and they didn’t get scolded or pushed off or told to get off.”

On the next day, the same female security guard got into another altercation with Dominican actor Massiel Taveras. In the video, the guard seemed to be preventing the actress from posing and waving to the crowd.

But that’s not it! Other celebrities, such as Korean actress Yoona and Ukrainian model Sawa Pontyjska, ran into the same security guard.

After these back-to-back four scandals, fans worldwide went on a rampage online to have the Cannes security guard fired. One user wrote, “That lady was beefing with evvvveryone (sic).

On the other hand, some are adding a new perspective to the red carpet incident. One fan, in particular, wrote, “From what I heard, the pics on steps are reserved for specific sponsored ppl, not everyone. Wonder when Cannes will clarify that.

Meanwhile, others supported her by saying she was just doing her job and was under pressure to keep everyone moving, as the Independent Times reported.

Amidst all these fiascos, Cannes has not addressed anything about the red-carpet incidents.

Additional Information

  • The Cannes security guard’s name or identity remains private. Regardless, she is receiving very harsh criticism for her actions on the red carpet.
  • While the allegation of racism based on color and ethnic group is coming forward about the guards’ behavior, her colleagues insisted she was only doing her job.
  • Kelly, Massiel, and Pontyjska have responded about their horrible experience with the guard at Cannes.
  • Cannes has not said anything about the potential protocols for the photo shoot at Red Steps.
