The supernatural horror film, inspired by a real-life story, follows a mother who undergoes a terrifying experience when demonic forces possess her children. The location of the incident was reported to be a house in Indiana after The Deliverance scored top ranks on Netflix.
According to Latoya Ammons and her mother, Rosa Campbell, the incidents began in 2011 when they heard footsteps in the basement and creaky doors opening despite no one being in the location.
The family had moved to a rented house at 3860 Carolina Street, Gary, Indiana, but they had noticed several unusual events in the location, as mentioned in The Deliverance. One December, black flies swarmed their front porch, which was challenging to remove.
Similarly, things took a turn in March 2012 when Ammons noticed her 12-year-old levitating above a bed but later had no recollection of the event after waking up.

After the terrifying incident, Ammons and her mother reached out to community members in hopes of receiving help to understand what might be happening in their home, as the demonic events didn’t end.
As the news traveled to neighbors and local groups, church officials guaranteed their residence had spirits. Moreover, two psychics revealed that the home contained more than 200 spirits.
Ammons tried a traditional method and saged her home while wearing all white. The family had a moment of peace for three days, but then the demons possessed the family, including all three children.
Such a peculiar story caught Lee Daniels’ eye as he began working on The Deliverance, with the perfect location in Pittsburgh to bring justice to the family who had to suffer such horrifying incidents in their house.
The original house has received national attention through various news, documentaries, and investigations!
Ammons and her family contacted their doctor, Dr. Geoffrey Onyeukwu, for a report where he mentioned that her youngest son was lifted and thrown into the wall, and he growled like an animal on several instances.
The DCS family case manager, Valerie Washington, investigated the family and talked to the youngest son, who claimed, “It’s time to die, I will kill you.“
According to several news outlets, their oldest son walked backward up a wall to the ceiling and glided backward on the floor while holding his grandmother’s hand.

Due to the frequency of the abnormal activities, DCS removed Ammon’s children from her custody and placed them in child care. Meanwhile, police officers investigated their house and noticed several paranormal activities, as police Captain Charles Austin eventually concluded that he was a believer.
As Ammons left the house, it became a point of interest for several investigators. However, TV show host Zak Bagans later demolished the house in 2016. He purchased the property to make a documentary, Demon House.
After Bagans completed his project, he decided to demolish the set again because concerns about the negative energy associated with the haunted location persisted.
With Netflix, actors like Andra Day, Glenn Close, Anthony B. Jenkins, and Caleb McLaughlin have brought the case to life with their performances as The Deliverance has managed to capture the incidents as closely as possible.
