Former Big Brother participant and boxing promoter Kellie Maloney, previously known as Frank Maloney, confirmed in August 2014 that she would be changing her gender, and many believed that she could afford such a costly operation due to her whopping net worth of $600,000.
Maloney confirmed in an interview that she had to spend a huge $100,000 on her transition process and sell some of her buy-to-let properties to collect money.
There is no doubt that she has earned a lot of money. She was a very prominent figure in the boxing business throughout the ’90s and appeared in TV shows like Big Brother and The Big Fight Live later in her career.
Furthermore, after her successful transition, Maloney has shared that her expenses have increased as she has to buy more dresses, beauty products, and bags, confirming she has a fortune big enough to afford those.
Before Frank Maloney turned into Kellie, she had to work three jobs to get by!
Born on January 23, 1953, in Peckham, London, to a builder father, Thomas, and a waitress mother, Mary-Anne, Frank Maloney, as of now, wasn’t able to complete her studies due to dyslexia. Watching her parents’ hard work, Maloney learned the value of money at a young age.
To support her family, Maloney had to work three jobs: catering manager during the day, boxing manager during the evening, and mini-cab driver during the weekends.
Through her hard work, she was able to buy a maisonette in Leytonstone for £ 7,500, which she would sell for £21,000 in two and a half years.
Similarly, Maloney would buy another property in Orpington for £ 21,000 and sell it for £32,000 a few years later.
After grinding throughout her youth, Kellie, as Frank Maloney, would go on to manage Lennox Lewis, the undisputed boxing champion between 1989 and 2001, who had a net worth of $140 million, spiking her earnings to an extent that she thought was impossible.
She says that managing Lennox Lewis changed her life, allowing her to buy a family house in Portugal, afford private education for her daughters, and maintain a very healthy lifestyle.
In addition to her boxing ventures, Maloney also appeared in the fourteenth season of the famous TV reality show Big Brother in 2014 after she announced her gender transition.
When asked if she earned $400,000 for her participation in the show, she replied, “It was about half of that.”
As of now, Kellie Maloney still has a steady income as she is working as a part-time boxing promoter and has shares in companies like Lloyds Banks, Sky TV, and Royal Mail.
