Penny Dommett, the mother of English TV presenter and comedian Joel Dommett, surprised many by revealing that she is a garden designer after a live segment on TV with her son.
Joel hosted the TV program Lorraine for two episodes in the last week of May 2024 as a replacement for Lorraine Kelly, who had gone to visit her mother. Furthermore, he had also brought his wife (Hannah Cooper), son (Wilde Dommett), and mum into the studio.
In it, she hosted a segment with her son called Perfect Plants with Penny, in which she discussed various plants and their features.
Furthermore, on her X account, she wrote in her bio, “I am a garden designer who loves talking to anyone about gardens and plants.” Similarly, she has described herself as Joel Dommett’s ‘proud and embarrassing’ mother.

In April 2020, Joel Dommett and Penny Dommett attended All-Round to Mrs. Brown’s, a TV show under the BBC, where they would share different elements of Joel’s life, including how he used to deal with bullies and his Nunchaku skills.
After a while, the talk shifted to Joel’s childhood, and he revealed his masturbation habit by saying, “I was definitely doing that. I used to do it in the loft.”
Furthermore, he added, “It was the only the room where I knew mum wasn’t going to walk in on me because she was scared of heights, she wasn’t going to look in the loft.” As many would normally react, Penny was speechless at this revelation.
Moreover, Joel also revealed that he used to lactate sometimes, and he still didn’t know why.
Similarly, there is another incident in which Joel made a bold, intimate joke in front of his mother on another TV show. In August 2021, he appeared on a celebrity special charity episode of The Cube, a British game show, alongside famous singer Olly Murs.
As the episode progressed, Olly would give Joel advice on a round called ‘Colour Match’ by saying, “You don’t want to get too excited and go too fast,” to which he smoothly replied, “It’s good advice, Olly, in many things.“
He would quickly regret saying that, as he forgot that his mother, Penny, was also in the studio, who could be seen laughing from the audience.
Both mother and son have a lovely relationship with each other, as Joel posts about his mother from time to time on Instagram and Facebook and even wishes her birthdays.
