Despite Jodie Turner-Smith’s role name including the word ‘mother,’ her character, Mother Aniyesa, is not the actual parent of Mae Aniseya. Instead, it is revealed that she lost her family in a fire.

As Mother Aniseya is the leader of a coven of witches, so the word mother could be an honorification for her leadership role.

So, instead of being an actual mother by blood, Mother Aniyesa could be the adoptive parent of Mae Aniseya.

Mae Aniseya has a twin sister, Osha Aniseya, who blames her for burning down their family

The latest prequel series to the Star Wars saga, The Acolyte, takes place 100 years before Phantom Menace.

Set in the High Republic era, the first two episodes revealed that Mae and Osha Aniseya are twins from the planet Brendok.

Also, it’s hinted that they do not have a father, and the Jedi shouldn’t know how the twins have been created.

When four Jodi invaded the twins’ home planet, they clashed with Mother Aniseya’s coven of witches. Angered, Mae supposedly burned down her entire family, except for Osha, who survived the fire.

However, it is uncertain and still shrouded in mystery about the tragedy that fell on Brendok. So, not much information is available about the parents of Mae and Osha Aniseya.

Regardless, Jedi left the planet with Osha, and neither of the twins knew the other’s survival at the time.

Only after sixteen years do the twins meet each other, and right from the start, Mae learns that Osha is angry about her actions and blames her for everything that happened years ago.
