American actress Miya Cech is casted as Toph Beifong, a blind character in Season 2 of Avatar: The Last Airbender!

Season 2 of Nickelodeon’s animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender announces Miya Cech, an American actress, as people’s favorite fictional character, Toph Beifong, who appears to be blind in the series.

The character played by Miya Cech is an integral part of Team Avatar. She is from a well-to-do family and is blind, but she has exceptional skill in earth bending and can see and perceive her surroundings using her seismic sense.

The internet blew up with excitement when Netflix released a short teaser of the series on YouTube on September 20, 2024, and confirmed through a post that Miya Cech will play the blind character Toph, which has become a subject of discussion among netizens.

Moreover, Miya Cech also disclosed this news through her Facebook and Instagram handle saying, “this is the hardest secret I’ve ever had to keep.”

Miya Cech has excitingly shared about a lot of experiences gathered during the audition and casting of Toph!

Talking about Avatar: The Last Airbender, Miya has shared her experience in the interviews and podcasts about the role of Toph saying, “ I also have some dance experience from when I was younger that has been very helpful as I learn about Toph’s movements.”

In addition, the actress worked with a professional from the blindness community during the rehearsals to justify the blind character in the series.

Basically, she seems so happy to represent Chinese heritage in Toph, as her background is of Chinese and Japanese American descent. She was born in Tokyo on March 4, 2007.

As per Just Jared, even executive producers of the series praised Miya saying,Miya is our Toph! Miya is a brilliant performer who knows how to precisely balance the sarcastic sense of humor, stubbornness, and vulnerability that is Toph Beifong.”

Before this, Miya worked a lot in the industry, making her film debut through The Darkest Mind (2018), followed by an immense number of movies and series, including Surfside Girls and You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah in supporting as well as lead roles.

Despite of her young age and family background, Miya has still done commendable work collaborating with huge labels and names, and now stepping towards breakthrough of her career.
