Myha’la Herrold, known for her role as Hapeper Stern in the British television drama Industry, has been in a relationship with her boyfriend, Armando Rivera, since 2020 after he DM’ed her on Instagram requesting an interview.
Armando Rivera, a 24-year-old from San Francisco, isn’t a new name in showbiz, as he has worked on several short movies, including Lucha Noir, Wolves, and Any Day Now.
Moreover, he is an avid football fan and even played at the Academy of Art Univeristy Athletics as an NCAA Division 2 men’s scooter team captain.
Rivera doesn’t shy away from displaying his relationship through his social accounts, given he often posts pictures with the actress, frequently referring to her as “my love.“
After dating for several years, the pair became comfortable enough to attend several fashion shows and events, including ones of Jacquemus, GQ, Wmag, and IVYHEART.
Similarly, fans couldn’t contain their excitement when Herrold and Rivera posted engagement pictures wearing matching chic, chunky silver rings with the caption, “It’s clipped for the rest of yall! Soz!!! <333 I love you.”
Myha’la Herrold and her boyfriend had their first date on a Zoom meeting!
During the pandemic, Herrold had just finished shooting for Industry, garnering much attention from followers whose messages flooded her Instagram DMs.
Among many messages was Rivera, who was tasked to interview a celebrity for his final exam for a journalism course at Bay Area College.
After choosing Herrold for the task, Rivera spent hours talking to the actress on the Zoom call as she started asking personal questions, which pushed their relationship in a new direction.
Following a series of Facetimes, the actress finally decided it was the right time to meet Rivera while traveling to San Francisco in 2021 despite the country being deep into COVID protocols.
Overcoming the barrier was difficult but strengthened their bond as the couple started living together in New York soon after Rivera completed his final in-person classes.
In a recent interview, Herrold added about their new life, “We’re serious homebodies. He has two cats, so it’s a full house here all the time. I love to cook and hang out. Most of our favorite spots are food.“
With the beginning of another chapter in their lives as engaged couples, Herrold looks forward to all the adventures and challenges that are in store for them. The couple promises to balance their work and relationship side-by-side.
