Nassim Lyès‘ decision to leave law and move to Paris to pursue acting was financially challenging for his parents
Before pursuing acting as a full-time career, Nassim Lyès was looking for a career in law and was the title holder of the French freshman kickboxing champion. At the time, he attended law school at Vauban University.
He never hesitated to continue transferring to Paris to study at ESRA International Film School because his entire family supported him, especially his mother, despite their financial difficulties.
Nassim was the youngest among five siblings: one sister and four brothers. It drew a lot of hitches for the family supporting him financially.
However, they were able to borrow €15,000 to cover his tuition fees. When moving to Paris, Nassim also struggled to find housing because of his last name, Si Ahmed.
His mother stepped in and sought a guarantor after the landlords turned him down. So, they assisted him financially, emotionally, and morally.
This later made him drop his original surname, Nassim Si Ahmed, and adopt Nassim Lyès instead to overcome these hurdles.
He was committed to becoming a famous filmmaker, although Nassim had no experience in theater. Despite that, his parents never questioned his ability.
Finally, Nassim got the chance when the casting director, Antoine Carrard, found him. The play Mineurs 27 became his debut act, which kicked off his acting career.
