New rising actor Nicholas Chavez, who recently got major recognition for his appearance in the Netflix crime-drama series Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Mernandez Story, seems to have had a unique upbringing, considering that his parents divorced each other when he was fairly young.
His father, Nicholas Chavez Sr., and his mother, whose name still remains unknown, separated when Nicholas was only 5 years old.
Ever since then, Nicholas, while growing up with his three younger half-siblings, has had to occasionally move between his father’s house in Arvada and his mother’s house in Denver.
Although we don’t know what caused the divorce in the first place, it seems that Nicholas’ parents and he are still on good terms and even sometimes celebrate certain occasions together.
Furthermore, Nicholas has also shared numerous times that his parents didn’t allow their divorce to interfere with his upbringing.
Unlike his character in Monsters, Nicholas Chavez has very supportive parents!
Born on September 6, 1999, in Houston, Texas, Nicholas Chavez spent most of his childhood alternating between his parents’ house in Colorado.
While this may sound rough initially, Nicholas has shared that it never bothered him as his parents still loved him unconditionally.
He stated that even after joining theatre activities, every time he felt anxious, his mother would be there to strongly support him.
Moreover, he was able to refine his acting skills at the Denver Center for Performing Arts and Ellie Caulkins Opera House, as the institutes were near his mother’s home.
Similarly, Nicholas’s experience with his dad supporting him is also quite wholesome, and he calls it a pivotal moment in his life.
He said that his father had attended one of his plays, and after the show ended, his father met up with his coach and thanked him, saying, “If I should d*e tonight in a car accident or something, I got to see my son become a dad tonight.“
Watching his father get emotional after watching his performance got Nicholas choked as well, and it seems they had a good talk on their way back home.
The family support for Nicholas doesn’t end with his parents. His grandparents, Nick and Betty Chavez, are also huge fans of his work, saying, “He’s a natural. It just fits him.”
Happily talking about his appearance in the series General Hospital, his grandmother said, “We’re hooked. We watch all the episodes after work. It really has brought a lot of joy into our life.”
As we can see, unlike his character, Lyle, who had ignorant parents, Nicholas Chavez has a family who loves and supports him in every step of his life.
