Actress and dancer Sonoya Mizuno grew up embracing two different cultures, as her parents, Hajime Mizuno and Charlotte Mizuno, hail from entirely distinct family descent.
During her conversation with Interview Magazine, House of the Dragon star Sonoya Mizuno revealed her father is Japanese while her mother is of half english and half-Argentine descent.
According to the interview, her father, who is an artist, met his future wife Charlotte in Japan in the 1970s, and they fell in love. She mentioned that her parents were diplomats posted in Japan.
Her father and mother both grew up experiencing two different cultures as they were born in different countries.
Like their parents, The Rich Asians alum Sonoya Mizuno was born in Tokyo, Japan, on July 1, 1986, but grew up in her mother’s country, Somerset, England.

Through their over-decade-long marriage, the couple welcomed six children: Saya, Jinya, Mariya, Miya, Sonoya (daughter), and Tomoya (brother).
After their divorce, Sonoya and her other siblings moved to Somerset, England, and started living with her mother. Charlotte Mizuno became an example of a strong mother as she raised her all six children alone.

However, growing up in England, her children did not had a great childhood as Sonoya shared her struggles she faced for being a half-Japancese.
While revealing having a hard time fitting in school, Sonoya said, “I was the only mixed-race girl in my primary school class, and I do remember being called names such as Chinese takeaway and chocolate brownie” during her Interview with We Are Resonate.
Due to the environment in her school, she always felt like an outsider. Therefore, at age 11, she moved to the Royal Ballet School, where she found more diversity than the previous school.
Further, Sonoya says her family was very strange-looking. They were six half-Japanese children with a white mother living in rural Somerset, which was unusual in their society.
So, the siblings used to stick together, living in their own small worlds. Rather than going out having parties, they used to spend their time at home painting, dancing, singing, and cooking.
Later, the siblings turned their hobbies into professions and started earning money, by which they financially supported their mother.
