The live-action movie trailer for The Simpsons, which had confused fans after they spotted Adam Sandler in it, was actually an AI-generated fan-made trailer.
Released on a channel called ‘Multiverse of AI’ on August 8, 2024, the video has amassed 1.2 million views on YouTube.

The trailer shows the main cast as the Simpson family: Adam Sandler as Homer, Kristen Wiig as Marge, Jacob Tremblay as Bart, and McKenna Grace as Lisa.
Furthermore, we also see other famous personalities like Will Ferrell, Jordan Peele, Keegan-Michael Key, Niel Patrick Harris, Ben Stiller, and many others portraying the side characters from the show.
While the trailer is going viral online, and many are complimenting the casting choices, others are criticizing the video for its use of AI.
The fan-made trailer got fans talking about the possibility of a second movie for The Simpsons!
Fans were disappointed to learn that the trailer for the live-action movie was fake. However, the disappointment was gone after talks for a possible second animated movie began.
Released in 2007, the first animated movie for The Simpsons was a commercial and critical success, with a rating of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes and a total box-office earnings of $536.4 million.
After the success of the movie, 20th Century Fox approached showrunner James L. Brooks regarding talks for a second movie. Unfortunately, the showrunners were too busy to work on any project.
While a sequel had not been greenlit, showrunner Al Jean revealed that if there had been a second movie, it would have followed the plot of the episode The Man Who Came To Be Dinner.

After a few years of silence, Jean revealed in 2017 that the second Simpsons movie was in the early stages of production. Furthermore, by 2018, many say the movie had already reached the development stage.
However, the COVID-19 pandemic halted any further talks about the possibility of the sequel, although there were rumors in 2023 that showrunners Brooks and Matt Groening would team up to make the movie.
Pitching ideas for the sequel, a Reddit user named u/jj_thetwisted_jester wrote, “Why not have the Simpsons movie based around Christmas Special of sorts cause the Simpsons started as one, why not end it in a Christmas movie?”
Similarly, another user named u/Echavs456 wrote, “Bart & Lisa finally grow up & not live in a parody future. They go out & decide how to live their lives.”
Currently, there is no update regarding the sequel; however, Jean hopes that the sequel of The Simpsons will restore the glory that animation cinema had before the pandemic.
