English actor Tom Hopper, who plays Luther Hargreeves, has become one of the primary topics among the fans of The Umbrella Academy after many viewers noticed that he looked different in the latest season of the show, with some speculating it’s due to weight loss.
When discussing the potential reasons for his changes in appearance, a Reddit user named u/budgiebirdman wrote, “He’s lost a sh*t ton of weight. He looks kind of ill to me.“
Replying to the comment, another user wrote, “He lost the weight because they don’t have powers in the beginning of season 4. I am only on the first episode so there is no spoilers here lol but he clearly has a lot of muscle definition.”
While some say Hopper’s different appearance was due to him not wearing his muscle suit, a costume made to make his character look bigger when he had powers, many are sure that it was because of his weight loss.
Furthermore, the weight loss of Tom Hopper comes as a surprise, as he had to gain 22 pounds (10 kilos) for his role in the show.
Before joining The Umbrella Academy, Tom Hopper used to have an eating disorder!
Game of Thrones star Tom Hopper, 39, was born on January 28, 1985, in London, England, and grew up with problems with his diet and eating disorder.
The 6 ft 5 actor shared that he was an extremist, saying, “An average McDonald’s trip would be a Big Mac meal, with a large strawberry shake. And then two cheeseburgers on the side. I would eat a large Domino’s pizza, two for Tuesdays.“
Furthermore, he has shared multiple times that he had a hard time maintaining his diet and was unhappy and not satisfied with the different routines and plans he was following, saying they didn’t work.
Hopper talked about the consequences of his poor diet: “On the outside, I looked like a guy who went to the gym. But inside I was a sick mess. I was having these headaches all the time, and I would get sick all the time.“
After being done with the unhelpful advice from his nutritionist, The Umbrella Academy actor took matters into his own hands and started his research.
Tom Hopper later came across Viome, a test program that checks a patient’s stool sample for possible gut problems.
After a while, the program will send a list of recommendations for foods to try and discard, stating the pros and cons of each food.
Tom Hopper says that Viome’s diet plan has been helpful to him, his wife, and his children. Furthermore, he shared that the diet plan was helpful for his weight control and that he has never felt better in his life.
