The House of the Dragon finale is finally here, ending the long-debated fan theory that Daemon Targaryen might be the Night King or White Walker.
In Sunday’s season 2 finale episode, Daemon Targaryen has visions of the future by placing his hand on the Weirwood tree, aka Godswood of Harrenhal.
Perhaps one of the most direct connections to Game of Thrones events happened almost 150 years after the events of House of the Dragon: Daemon sees Daenerys Targaryen, the White Walker, and the man who becomes the Tree-Eyed Raven.

Now that Daemon had a vision of the White Walker marching with his army of the dead, it refueled the long-speculated theory that Daemon Targaryen was the White Walker himself. However, to keep the facts straight without further dillydallying, Daemon is not the Night King.
Furthermore, the vision of Daemon was a foreshadowing of the events that would take place in Game of Thrones, with Daenerys being the prince that was promised, not Jon Snow.

Children of the Forest created the first White Walker, the Night King, long before Daemon and Dance of the Dragons!
Albeit I personally would love to see Daemon Targaryen becoming the Night King, promised to take over the Westeros who deemed him unfit to sit on the Iron Throne, as per the Game of Thrones, he simply isn’t.
In season 6 of Game of Thrones, we learned that children of the forest took one of the first men and turned him into the very first White Walker by stabbing his heart with Dragonglass, who became the Night King.
The children of the forest also clarify that they were at war with the first men as they were evading their lands, and to fend them off, they gave birth to White Walkers, which in turn backfired them, threatening the existence of every living being.
From that, it is clear that the events took place much before Dance of the Dragons, let alone after the battle above the Gods Eye.
According to the theory that Daemon is the Night King, he drowns to death after defeating Vhagar and its rider, Aemond, in the battle above the God Eye. The children of the forest then turn him into a White Walker, and he later becomes the Night King, who leads the army of the dead.
Besides that, many even claim that Daemon and Night King himself share an uncanny resemblance as both have long white hair, look in human form, and can ride dragons. While I do agree they look quite similar, their being the same seems a bit stretched!

In addition, Daemon’s freaked-out reaction after getting a vision of Night King was more like the monsters are coming; Westeros needs to be ready for The Walker invasion.
Now, trust me, if he were to become one, he would not warn others about his plan to wipe Westeros of humans later.

- Besides White Walker, Daemon’s vision also confirms that a man intertwined with a Weirwood tree is seemingly Brynden Rivers, aka Bloodraven.
- Daemon also has a vision of dragon eggs in fire, Daenerys Targaryen with three baby dragons, and a red comet. Interestingly, he even foresees his own Dragon Caraxes’ death and his own slowly dying in a body of water.
- His vision also makes him bend his knees to his niece-wife Rhaenyra as he sees her sitting on the Iron Thrones.
- Now, lastly, Helaena Targaryen tells Daemon that it’s all a story, referencing she knows it all.
