While Hollywood mourns the demise of Jon Landau, the Oscar-winning producer of Titanic, many are pondering if he was related to the late actor Martin Landau. However, keeping the facts straight, they were not and did not share any familial ties!

Film producer Jon Landau passed away on July 5, 2024, at the age of 63, as confirmed by his son, Jamie Landau.

So, with the demise news all over the internet, fans are reminiscing about Mission: Impossible actor Martin Landau, who passed away in 2017, noting the shared surname.

Apart from the same surname, there’s nothing common between the family tree of Jon and Martin Landau!

Although there are no official sources or statements from either of Jon and Martin Landau, if we take a closer look at their immediate family tree, it becomes pretty evident that they are not related.

For instance, Avatar producer Jon Landau was born on July 13, 1960, to his parents, Ely Landau and Edie Landau. He grew up in New York City, U.S., alongside four siblings: Neil, Les, Tina, and Kathy Landau.

Jon got married to his wife Julie Landau and they were happily married for almost 40 years. They welcomed two sons, Jamie and Jodie.

On the contrary, actor Martin Landau was born on June 20, 1928, to his parents, Selma and Morris Landau.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Martin had two siblings: Constance and Elinor Landau.

The Ed Wood actor married his Mission: Impossible co-star Barbara Bain on January 31, 1957, but they got divorced in 1993.

Nevertheless, before the split, the couple welcomed two daughters: Juliet and Susan Landau. His daughter Juliet got married to Deverill Weekes, and Susan got married to Roy Finch.

The veteran actor Martin passed away at the age of 89 on July 15, 2017, due to Cardiovascular disease.

Now, with all this information into consideration, there is no one common in between their immediate family tree.

So, given their same surname, we can only imagine them sharing familial ties if we go way too far back in the past generations.

Additional Information

  • Although both Jon and Martin Landau worked in Hollywood, they never got to work together on any projects.
  • Both of these Hollywood big shots were born and raised in a Jewish family. Martin’s father was an Austrian-born machinist.
