Canadian actress Rachel Graton’s rise in the acting world is no surprise to those familiar with her roots, as she hails from a family full of actors, including her parents, Benoit Graton and Julie Poulin.
Rachel’s parents are both graduates of the Conservatoire de théâtre de Québec. While Benoit acted in television shows, Julie did creative theater, which provided a strong foundation for Rachel’s pursuit of acting.
Moreover, the legacy of her great-aunt Françoise Graton, a thespian of Quebec theater, and her uncle Vincent Graton, a seasoned actor with over 30 years of experience in television, looms large in her life.
Surrounded by actor parents, Rachel Graton grew up believing professions like acting were family traditions!
Rachel Graton was born on August 29, 1985, into a family of actors in Quebec. With so many actors around her, she assumed certain professions were family traditions passed down through generations.
Rachel’s mother, Julie Poulin, was a theater performer, and her father, Benoit Graton, was a television actor, having worked in shows like 2 Freres and Les Aventures de la courte échelle.
Similarly, her uncle, Vincent Graton, has also appeared in numerous TV shows, such as Les Cavaliers, Une autre Histoire, Au Secours de Beatrice, and 19-2.
She said, “When I was little, I thought there were families of professions: families of actors, teachers, lawyers.” Later, she tried to convince herself that she would not take that path but eventually ended up in drama school.
Besides the artists in her family, Suzane Léveillé and Christiane Vogel, two teachers at Paul-Gérin-Lajoie High School in Outrement, made her feel confident about herself and her talent as a performer.
Rachel gained recognition for her acting roles in French-language productions in Quebec. Apart from acting, she also excels as a playwright, especially in her play La nuit du 4 au 5 (The Night of the 4th to the 5th), which won the Prix Gratien-Gélinas in 2017.
Furthermore, the 39-year-old actress remains active in various TV shows like Portrait-Robot, Trauma, Les Simone, and movies like Les Affamés and Tell Me Why These Things Are So Beautiful.
