While surfing off the shores of Oahu, Hawaii, the Pirates of the Caribbean cast member and surfing icon, Tamayo Perry became the victim of a shark attack on June 23, 2024.
According to various online sources, local surfers found Tamayo’s body on Malaekahana Beach, with his arms and legs missing and bites over his body.

Later, the paramedics announced the legendary waterman dead, which left many people in shock.
However, this was not his first encounter with a shark; he had previously faced a near-fatal attack due to someone else’s lack of awareness.
Tamayo had an infectious personality, and everybody loved him!
Born on April 16, 1975, to parents Kai and Thomas, Tamayo Perry would be 49 years old today.
Although he grew up on the east side of Oahu, he shifted towards the north shore to make his career as a professional surfer. However, later, he transitioned from a professional surfer to a lifeguard.

Tamayo started surfing at the age of 12 and has been considered a ‘quiet up-and-coming local boy who had to borrow surfboards because he had no sponsors’ since then.
Following his passion for surfing, he claimed the Pipeline Masters and became well-known for his smile. He is also one of the most noteworthy Pipeline surfers.
Moreover, with his talent and magnetic personality, Tamayo also appeared in shows and movies like Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Blue Crush, and more.
He also appeared in various surf videos, including Revelation, The Bomb, All Aboard, and Loaded Pipe.
In 2016, he joined Ocean Safety along with his wife, Emilia Perry, and started to share his passion for surfing by creating the Oahu Surfing Experience.
